QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A degree in Engineering, Land Surveying, Architecture or Quantity Surveying; and not less than twelve years’ relevant experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advises the Permanent Secretary and Minister on technical matters pertaining to the Ministry’s portfolio;
- Advises the Director, Planning and Development Department regarding developments and applications under the Highway Act;
- Performs statutory functions under the Highway Act Cap 289, the Road Traffic Act, Cap 295, the Public Works Act, Cap 32, the Electrical Wiremen (Licensing) Act, Cap 368A, the Road Abandonment Act, Cap 294, the Transport Board Act, Cap 297, and other Acts governing the work of the Ministry;
- Provides technical advice to ministries, departments and agencies;
- Oversees the maintenance projects of government buildings and the relocation process of government offices;
- Represents the Ministry at local, regional and international meetings related transport and works. This include the Planning and Priorities Committee, Engineers’ Registration Board, the Tenders Committee and Building Standard Committee;
- Liaises with the Human Resources Unit on matters related to the recruitment/selection, training and development, as well as other human resource matters;
- Oversees procurement, maintenance and disposal of government vehicles and equipment; and
- Any other relevant duty assigned by the Permanent Secretary and/or Minister.
